Descriptions:
The natural grain of the birch gives the shield a warm, earthy tone, while the carved designs are often highlighted with natural dyes or paints in vibrant reds, blues, or greens, reminiscent of Viking-era colors. A sturdy metal boss sits at the center, providing protection for the hand and adding to the shield’s overall durability.
The shield’s edges are reinforced, often bound with leather or rawhide to withstand blows in battle or during reenactments. The back features a leather arm strap and a grip, ensuring a secure hold during use. This piece not only serves as a formidable defense but also as a striking display of Viking craftsmanship and heritage.
